About Dare to be Deep

The CPAWS "Dare to be Deep" national tour celebrates the new Gwaii Haanas National Marine Conservation Area Reserve (NMCA) and Haida Heritage site, Canada's first NMCA and culmination of 15 years of work.  National tour sponsors include Mountain Equipment Co-op, Parks Canada, TD Canada Trust, The Ontario Trillium Foundation and Delta Hotels.

Local NMCA

Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area was created in 2007, the very first NMCA in Canada since the passing of the National Marine Conservation Act in 2002.  The waters of the NMCA are home to more than 70 species of fish and more than 50 shipwrecks!  Learn more...
